I am forwarding this request from Brian McGuire (Roskilde University,
Denmark) for help with a quotation from Jean Gerson. If anyone can lend
Brian a hand, he and I will both be grateful. You may reply to me, or
else get in touch directly with Brian. (His email address is still at
Copenhagen for the near future, so it may safely be used.)
BTW, I think we can all assume Brian knows Ps. 102 (103):5, renovatur ut
aquilae iuventus tua.
With thanks in advance,
MW

I wonder if you could put out a query on one of your networks about the
eagle, for Gerson has a reference to its youth--it must be some kind of
reference to the PHYSIOLOGUS literature, but I don't know where to
look--and certainly there are experts out there who would: the whole
passage goes: EMORTUA IGITUR VETERANA CARNE MEA FELICI MORTE, QUAE VITAM
NON ABSTULIT SED MUTAVIT,QUATENUS RENOVARETUR SICUT AQUILAE JUVENTUS SUA.
Any ideas? All the best, Brian
