Folks:
Just clueing in to this list and surprised to find the DC/HTML syntax still
under discussion. But since it is: has using the <meta> tag to _enclose_
the actual content data ("unminimized") been entirely eliminated as a
possibility? E.g.,
<meta name=DC.author>Twain, Mark, 1835-1910</meta>
Yes, I know that the 3.2 DTD specifies the contents as "EMPTY", but mightn't
it be worth fighting for a small change here, since the result seems cleaner
and much more flexible. It also seems far more in the spirit of SGML (if it
has one), and would head off the otherwise inevitable appearance of lengthy
meta-essays within the meta start-tag.
The example above currently results in the "content" actually apearing in
the document display, at least in Netscape 3.0 (Win95); but isn't
display/non-display of elements addressed in the stylesheet spec?
(Sorry if this is off-limits or bananas or has been argued to death. Just
fill me in on the objections ...)
