Does anyone know of any new secondary literature on this topic? I think
that the last item I read about later-medieval pilgrimages to Mont
Saint-Michel was an article by LABANDE in the Mont Saint-Michel
'millenaire' volume.
I am particularly interested in the 1333 episode, when pilgrims, described
as 'enfants' and as 'Pastoureaux'--mostly if not entirely from northern
France--journeyed there. The term 'peregrinatio pastorum' is used in the
Latin sources, but, unlike 1320, this was no shepherds's crusade. There
are, of course, subsequent pilgrimages of 'enfants' to Mont Saint-Michel,
including the well-known 15thc. movement from Germany and Switzerland.
