Dear George:
I am not sure but think Nicolas is a patron of pilgrims too. In fact
in Santiago de Compostela cathedral the first chapel the pilgrims met was
devoted to S. Nicolas de Bari (Codex Calixtinus, V, 9); some scholars think
it was not without symbolism: the pilgrim should thank S. Nicolas his
protection during the long -and dangerous- travel.
