Dear Colleagues,
I have a small problem which I hesitate to inflict on the list but
perhaps someone might be able to help without too much inconvenience. The
problem is the result only of not having access to a good library. Right
now I can only lay my hands on the 1929 English translation of Caesarius
of Heisterbach's _Dialogue on Miracles_ and I fear it will be sometime
before I can get to a library with a latin version. I wonder if someone
could tell me if in the latin the references to Bernard of Clairvaux are
invariably accompanied by designations as saint or blessed, etc. I am
wondering if the english translator added in "S. Bernard" or "blessed
Bernard" or similar designations at his own discretion. References to
Bernard appear in :
Book I, Of Conversion, ch. 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 16, 19
Book II, Of Contrition, ch. 3, 15, 16, 18
Book III, Of Confession, ch. 6, 7, 38
Book IV, Of Temptation, ch. 1, 7
Book VIII, Of Divers Visions, ch. 31
Book XI, Concerning the Dying, ch. 2, 30
[Again, I only have access to the translation so at this point can only
hope this corresponds to the organization of the latin treatise]
If anyone could help me I would be terribly grateful.
Thanks so much,
Jacqueline Murray
