This is probably getting right off the theme, but in his Quaestiones super
de animalibus, Bk.6,q.25 Albertus Magnus poses the question:
'Quare lupus et canis in emittendo urinam elevant crus seu pedem posteriorem'
Albert explains that dogs and wolves are melancholic animals, and the
particular make-up of their urine causes pain in the bladder when passing
it. Dogs also have a number of other disgusting digestive disorders, which
I'd rather not go into here!
