I'm wondering if the new book could be that of Philippe Buc, published by
Beauchesne of Paris in 1994 (not actually available until 1995), which
tends to stop with Nicholas of Lyre as the end of a tradition of exegesis
started in the 12th c., or rather the departure of a new series of
traditions. If I remember correctly (and this is far from likely) the
title is L'ambiguite du Livre: Pouvoir princier et .... (except I also
think it has a Latin phrase in the title)
the focus is on the political beliefs of scholastic exegetes.
Come to think of it, this probably isn't the book requested, but I would
be interested in reaction from people who know about this subject or
period.
Ciao!
