One of the reasons, I think, that there has been a lack of serious
discussion lately, is quite simply because it is summer and a lot of
contributors have simply gone away for a while. I don't know about
you, but the number of postings to this list in my mailbox has
decreased dramatically in the last few weeks, especially after the
Leeds congress.
Therefore, it seems that no one is posting anything seriously. The
same thing happens over on the early music list. For the next few
months, I suspect that the number of postings will be smaller than
normal. It will undoubtedly pick up in the Autumn.
I myself don't check it daily (not with this weather!), and a lot of
other people, I suspect, are doing the same.
Just to prove that I'm not entirely silly all the time, I do have a
legitimate question, one that I've asked before, but will try again,
just in case there are new people who have not read it before:
Does anyone have sources or info on the subject of monastic slave
holding and trading, specifically, the holding of Muslim slaves by
Cistercian houses in the 12th century? Any other info would also be
helpful, but that area in particular is what I'm looking at.
Verlinden has very little to say about it, and Kedar mentions it a
bit, but I'd like to find out more.
Thanks for any help, and try not to be too serious!
Remember, if you don't want to read my, or anyone else's limericks,
all you have to do is hit the "delete" button. Now have a nice day.
Tim :-)
