John's query reminds me to remind the list at large that there is a way to
find out not only who belongs to medieval-religion, but also to know their
e-mail addresses.
Just send the message reading simply
review medieval-religion
to
[log in to unmask] (NOT [log in to unmask], and
NOT [log in to unmask])
In a short while, you'll get a reply from mailbase, telling you the names
& addresses of the list's 'owners' (I HATE that title; I didn't make it
up) and 'members', along with the addresses to which the list's mailings
are sent to those members. Normally, these names & addresses are listed in
alphabetical order according to the last name of the member; however,
sometimes our members' names don't appear in this order, because when they
subscribed to the list they left their signature file on, or added some
nickname, etc. (Someday, when I have nothing to do and a bottle of
something, I'll 'clean up' these names, so that they appear in the right
order all of the time.)
In nearly 100% of cases, these addresses that follow members' names can be
used by you to write directly to the individuals concerned. (Sometimes,
there are complicated address forms, with percentage marks and other
squiggly things; these indicated the route some mail must take to get from
the UK to its destination. It's with these addresses that one could find
it difficult to send a message successfully.)
Did I leave anything out? Oh yes, I am wearing a black arm band today, due
to Italy's elimination from the European Football Championships.
Irrelevantly but never irreverently (!),
George
