I'm forwarding this from medtextl. This sounds like a question/ topic that
medieval religion folks would find interesting. Please note that responses need
to go to Carolyne rather than the list -- [log in to unmask]

Dear Medtextlers,
I am working on a couple of different projects - one involves the topos of
building a cloister in the mind. I'd be interested to know if anyone has
come
across further examples of this than the seminal _De Claustro Animae_ of
Hugh
of Folieto, the Pilgrymage of the Lyf of Manhode and its French source,
Gertrude the Great and Mechthild of Magdeburg.
A second query is: does anyone know of any later work on the early 13c
_Vita de beate virginis marie et salvatoris rythmica_ ed. A. Vogtlin in
1888
but apparently not of much interest to anyone since. I'm interested in the
possible sources for, and possible further influence of, the long section
describing the appearance of Christ. Thanks for any help in advance!
Carolyne Larrington.
