Dear Gary Dickson,
judging withouth any expertise I would say that 'nescio quo rotatu longo
sermonum' describes a practice of endless repetition of prayers (or of
sequences of prayers), and such a practice in fact might be appropriate to
create a state of mind leading to glossolaly. But the text, as I understand
it, does not say as much in explicit words. To compare with other
descriptions, have you looked at Paul Alphande/ry, _La glossolalie dans le
prophe/tisme me/die/val latin_, in: Revue de l'histoire des religions 104
[an. 52] (1931), p.417-436?
