and for longer stuff, H.C.Lea's *A History of Auricular COnfession*
(1896) and Jean Delumeau *L'Aveu et le Pardon: les difficulties de la
confession XIIIe-XVIIIe siecle* (1964); and T.N.Tentler's *Sin and
Confession on the Eve of the Reformation* (Princeton: 1977)
