Following Gary's query, I can't help saying/revealing that part of my
mission in Toronto, apart from seeing family and friends, was to consult a
magnificent manuscript in this collection. The Collection's MS #1 is the
presentation copy of Bernard Gui's 1329 sanctoral, book 3 (dealing with
martyrs), along with brief chronicles of emperors and the popes. A
particular part of this manuscript -- that dealing with Celestine V -- is
of great interest to me. The MS itself is most interesting, as it is the
presentation copy destined for pope John XXII.
I should also pay tribute to Mr Pope's 'disponibilite' and kindness in
putting up with a stranger like me for a few hours, on very short notice.
Indeed: is there a catalogue of this wonderful collection?
