Richard Landes mentions Matthew Paris and the 'Jubilee' in the context of
1250. This was the Hebraic Jubilee of 7 x 7 + 1. Boniface VIII's annus
sanctus or anno santo of 1300 was based on the new century or 100 (i.e.,
A.D.) and not the Hebraic 50. The New Testament emphasis of the papal Holy
Year was such that the Old Testament word 'Jubilee' was omitted from papal
pronouncements.
