I have to admit to using what I think is common sense.
I would never do a VE on *female* without a chaperone.
I would never do a rectal exam without a chaperone on any woman
below a certain age. This age will vary, depending on other factors
(one of which will be any prior knowledge of the patient), but would
be in the region of 70.
Breasts: I have to admit to not often examining breasts with a
chaperone. I should, I guess, and there will be those who think I'm
mad, but there it is. This depends, more than on anything else, on
how well I know the patient.
Heading for trouble?
