Many of the more longstanding people on this list know Chuck Burnette. His's daughter just emailed to say that Chuck recently died from a stroke.
Chuck was one of the earliest and most reliable design researchers and recognised as one of the 40 most influential people making a difference in design. He made impresssive contributions to design and architecture practice, education and research and was well ahead of his time in many areas - one of the founders of design research with an early PhD (1969!) on design computing.

Chuck has been a friend since meeting at a DRS conference in the UK. He had a strong interest in the cognitive-neuroscience and affectively-based cognition underpinning designing activities and published many recent papers on academia.com. it was a delight over the years to keep in touch. His thoughtful awareness, witty thoughts and critical steady new ways of thinking about design activity continue to be fresh.
