Dear all,
I have just read this following article, published last week on March 17th:
“Effects of Astaxanthin, Lutein, and Zeaxanthin on Eye–Hand
* Coordination and Smooth-Pursuit Eye Movement after Visual Display
Terminal Operation in Healthy Subjects: A Randomized, Double-Blind
Placebo-Controlled Intergroup Trial* “.
https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/15/6/1459
In the Introduction, it is affirmed that “VDT – Video Display Terminal –
operation is considered to disrupt eye–hand coordination and smooth-pursuit
eye movement because the VDT operation is attributed to a decline in
accommodation and oculomotor function, which are related to eye–hand
coordination and smooth-pursuit eye movement.
(...) “In modern society, where VDT operations have become increasingly
common, the fact that VDT operations impair eye–hand coordination and
smooth-pursuit eye movement might become a serious problem.”
An imminent worldwide problem - that of visually impaired populations?? -
that we, designers, in the line of our respective expertise, can somehow
contribute to prevent and/or alleviate?
Please share your thoughts. Thanks in advance!
