HOMEDEM is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Network on "Co-designing a home with dementia", aimed at specialised interdisciplinary training at the intersection of design, co-design and dementia care for a new generation of early career researchers. Applicants are invited to apply for 8 PhD positions and will be provided with high-level training in design and dementia caregiving.
One of the 8 positions will be supervised by LUCA school of Arts in Genk, Belgium.This PhD will focus on how design products and services can support the understanding of changing relationships and role transitions (throughout the journey in dementia). It applies the potential of design to mediate communication (on shared decision-making, interaction and shifting roles) within the care constellation. The doctoral candidate will be working within the 'Caring. and design research-cluster'.
The candidate is an excellent designer with a strong interest and knowledge of co-design and holds the potential to create digital or physical tools (in the broadest sense of the word). A knowledge and understanding of design research methods is required. Because of interactions with participants, it is preferable that the candidate also speaks Dutch, or has a willingness to learn Dutch and engage with the local context.
Other positions will be hosted by one of the 6 other academic institutions of the consortium: KU Leuven (Belgium), TU Eindhoven and Maastricht University (The Netherlands), University of Galway (Ireland), Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal).
Application deadline is January 15, 2023. Candidates can apply for a maximum of 3 positions.
