Dear Luke, and all
Interesting question. It reminded me of an old Seinfeld joke about doctors
being insecure:
*"You know, doctor is supposed to be such a prestigious occupation. But
it’s really like one of the only jobs where you have to have your diploma
right up there on the wall. It makes them seem so insecure, doesn't it?"*
In my case, it reads:
Diploma:
The board for doctorates of Delft University of Technology declares (...)
that [name] has been awarded the Degree of DOCTOR (all caps).
Certificate:
This letter is to confirm that [name] was registered as a PhD candidate at
[school] (...) and was awarded the degree of DOCTOR (all caps).
I wonder about the uppercase DOCTOR, I haven't noticed that before.
Combining two threads I asked the chatGPT app to write a doctorate
certificate for a PhD in Design:
Certificate of Completion
This is to certify that John Doe has successfully completed the
requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in the field of Design at
the University of California, Los Angeles.
John Doe has demonstrated exceptional knowledge and proficiency in their
field of study, and his research has made a significant contribution to the
field of design.
We are proud to award John Doe this degree and we wish him the best in his
future endeavors.
Signed,
[Dean of Graduate Studies] [University of California, Los Angeles] [Date]
Than, I asked chatGPT to do the same but as a poem:
A PhD in design, so well-deserved,
For John Doe, who's knowledge has been preserved,
Through diligent study and hard work,
His research has made a significant contribution to the field,
We proudly award him this degree,
Wishing him success and prosperity.
Much better.
Best,
Joao
