Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Please join us online or in person for the upcoming conference 'Materialising Music: Perspectives in Music and Material Culture'.
The conference will be held on the 8 and 9 December at the Royal College of Music - London, and is part of the launch events of the new Wolfson Centre in Music and Material Culture. It is part of the research project Materialising Musical Instruments supported by the British Academy and Leverhulme Trust, which aims to situate early modern instruments within the larger framework of economic interconnections and cultural history of commodities that aided in shaping early modern soundscapes (for more details: https://www.rcm.ac.uk/research/projects/materialisingmusicalinstruments/).
The conference aims to start a discussion about the current role that music and musical instruments play in the field of material culture studies, across academia and museums.
