Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am completing an overview paper on the use of museum collections as sources for musicological research, focusing particularly on the past two decades. Although I have already undertaken a preliminary overview of works published in journals, I would be particularly grateful if you could point me in the direction of either work that you are doing or projects that you are aware of in this field.
My main focus is not research on museum objects (for example in organology or iconography), but rather their value to support broader studies on music.
The perspective of this survey is international and I already gathered several responses from the point of view of museums. At this point I am particularly seeking examples from scholars who are engaging or have engaged with non-textual collections for any perspective on music history, sociology, reception, performance, etc. Performance-based projects are also within the scope of this survey, if they have a strong research perspective (but, please, only if based on museum collections).
I shall be very grateful for any suggestions, which can be sent to my personal address: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
Sincerely and with my best wishes
Gabriele Rossi Rognoni
