We are looking for a post-doctoral Research Fellow to join our team for a UKRI funded project titled "Beyond Individual Persuasion: Towards a Paradigm Shift in Interactive Visualisation and Sensing for Environmental Change". The project is across the UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC), UCL Anthropology and the UCL Energy Institute. It seeks to bring together anthropology, HCI and UbiComp to innovate the design of interactive visualisations and sensing for environmental change, reorienting them beyond their current use as levers of individual persuasion, towards an extended role as critical tools in the development of community and collective energy projects.
The Research Fellow will carry out participatory ethnographic-style research to inform the design, prototyping and field evaluation of new interactive environmental monitoring and visualisation technologies. They will lead on, or take part in, research with up to five communities, including an architectural design firm, built environment consultancy, two energy cooperatives, and a university.
The post is based in the UCL Anthropology Department, and the position will involve close collaboration with the rest of the project team at UCLIC and at the Energy Institute.
This full-time post is funded for 15 months initially and is available immediately. Salary (inclusive of London allowance): £36,770 - £42,048 per annum
Closing Date: 14 Jun 2022

They should have experience of, or demonstrable enthusiasm for, working on the anthropology of energy and/or environmental sustainability.
