Bravo Milena! Good to hear from a familiar lurker.
Although I came late to this conversation, I support your post and viewpoint, because as you know, exploitation of less powerful people is rife in academic and professional circles. And the ‘corridor chat’ to which Don Norman refers often occurs between people who have equitable access to power-knowledge (as Foucault called it) and space-time (work/socialise in proximal settings). The rest of us are left to our own ‘education’, for which, in many parts of the world, particularly the USA, we have to pay.
I stand with your colleague and you for calling this out, and for the first time on this list, include evidence of my ‘education’, for which I gladly expended time and $. My other learning, I learned on the job as designer, sessional/visiting academic and contract researcher.

His response demonstrates—precisely—why he should be paying for training in EDI, anti white supremacy, and decolonization.
