Dear Colleagues,
The Editorial Team of the INSAM Journal of Contemporary Music, Art and Technology is happy to invite you to collaborate on our Journal's eighth issue (I/2022). The main theme of INSAM Journal No. 8 is "Fighting for the attention: Music and art on social media".
As Hito Steyerl wrote, “The internet persists offline as a mode of life, surveillance, production, and organization—a form of intense voyeurism coupled with maximum nontransparency”. It affects the life of people online and offline; furthermore, “it is a form of life (and death) that contains, sublates, and archives all previous forms of media”. As one would presume, these changes and processes are particularly important in contemporary artistic creation, dissemination, and promotion of art and music.
Thinking about art and music on the internet – and particularly social media – in this light, we would like to encourage the debate concerning topics that include (and are not limited to) the following areas:
- Theoretical insight into the art and music on the internet, and social media in particular;
- Creating for/adapting to… the different social media applications;
- Promotion of music and art on social media outlets;
- Specificities of music and art on social media (in comparison to art on the internet in general);
- Music and art leading the change in the internet creativity and production;
- Music and art in/as the internet memes.
INSAM Journal is structured in four sections: The Main Theme, Beyond the Main Theme, Reviews, and Interviews. The main topic predefines only The Main Theme section; in other sections, we welcome your contributions related to contemporary art and media theory, artistic music, performing and visual arts, technology.
The deadline for theme and abstract submission is February 10, 2022, and for the full-text submission, April 15, 2022. The issue will be published in July 2022. For detailed information on the manuscript preparation, see Authors Guidelines. Send your proposals and full papers to [log in to unmask]
Looking forward to our cooperation,
Rijad Kaniža, Editorial Assistant
