Dear Fancois Nsenga,
Programs in Design offered at the Department of Design - ( DoD) , Indian Institute of Technology located at Guwahati (India) - (IITG) have been conceived on a similar model suggested in the paper by Prof. Muratovski'. In India a similar model was initiated in the year 2003-04. It has been evolving ever since. (IITs are top Indian Institutes of Technology with locations spread all over India and very competitive to admitted in.)
The B.Des program of DoD-IITG is multidisciplinary in nature involving series of courses from non-Design Faculties such as Science and Engineering with more than 50 % devoted to traditional Industrial Design curriculum.
The Masters (M.Des) has an Interdisciplinary curriculum involving courses in Graphic Design, Product Design, Interaction design, & Design Management topped by a Thesis project.
The PhD in Design at DoD-IITG is conceived to transcend disciplinary boundaries within Design (Visual Communication , Interaction design, User experience Design , Service Design etc) as well as, wherever and whenever required, crisscross those of Engineering, Information Technology, Cognitive Science , Ergonomics etc).
Many students who opt for M.Des and PhD programs at IITG have graduation in Engineering & Architecture making transcending boundaries possible.
Besides the above the Design Department offers a Minor in Design which is popular amongst students from other Engineering disciplines within IITG.
The Design programs are high in demand. This Design school has been an Indian pioneer in Design Curriculum Innovation and has been recognized so as well as conferred with national awards for its innovation in Design teaching and curriculum design . Upcoming new Design schools in India often refer to this school's two decades of rich experience.
Though requiring drastic updating, here is the link of the Departments website for those interested.

Industry has well received the graduates from this school in India . many graduates have become successful Entrepreneurs having made it to Forbes list (India).
Hope the above information is useful.

Subject: [PHD-DESIGN] CONSULTATION ON CROSSDISCIPLINARY KNOWLEDGE FOR DESIGN
Hello List members
Further to a recent brief exchange through this List, on the kind of
knowledge most pertinent to the field of design, I also consulted Prof. Gjoko
Muratovski, who, in May 2011, made a presentation
in a conference on 'Doctoral Education in Design', organized by Hong Kong
Polytechnic University School of the Design and the Swinburne University of
Technology Faculty of Design.
The conference was co-chaired by Lorraine Justice and Ken Friedman.
Prof. Muratovski's presentation is referenced below. At the conference, he
proposed that the three domains in the field of design deal specifically
with design knowledge as follows:
- Multidisciplinarity, at Bachelor's level
- Interdisciplinarity, at Master's level
- Transdisciplinarity, at Doctoral's
I wish to know if there are in the world, other academic institutions that
are currently applying the same or similar model as proposed by Prof.
Muratovski;
and how far they are being successful.
Regards
François
