Dear friends,

The organizing committee of the III Research and Design Colloquium:
(De)futuring Design, promoted by the Graduate Arts Program (ICA-UFC), the
Design Course (DAUD-UFC), the Digital Design Course (Quixadá Campus-UFC)
and the Design Course (IIsca-UFCA) is pleased to announce the opening of
the submission process for its third edition, which should take place until
September 27, 2021.

*About event*

In the third edition of the Research and Design Colloquium, we borrow the
term defuturation, offered by Tony Fry (2020), to carry on our proposal of
tensioning the design field, started in the second edition, when we focused
on the decolonization of design. This year, we want to promote the debate
about the effects of the ways of acting in and on the world, which are
particular to Design, about how we situate ourselves in relation to the
effects of other arrangements of agents, species, knowledge and worlds -
those that have long been absent from the Design agenda. Biotic and abiotic
agents, non-Western cultures, and non-humans also make history and compose
the landscape in which Design operates. To this end, the event will have
three thematic axes:

1. *Practices and poietics. *This axis welcomes works that involve
theoretical, methodological, and/or practical investigations to broaden the
discussions related to the approximations between the practices of arts,
science, and design; that explore issues related to technological
convergences, at different levels of project realization, including debates
about the proposition of a way out of the current global ecological,
political and social crisis.

2. *Politics and epistemologies of Design. *This axis welcomes papers that
involve theoretical, methodological and/or practical investigations to
broaden the discussions related to the singularities and differences of
actions linked to socio-environmental responsibility and social justice;
that involves the dissemination of design practice and design thought in
diverse contexts, as socio-historical mediation; that explore issues
related to social movements and medias, diversities, situated practices and
non-human entities; including digital and the paths to design.

3. *Teaching and knowledge. *This axis welcomes works that involve
theoretical, methodological, and/or practical investigations to broaden the
discussions related to the designer's education in the school and
non-school context; that involve dialogues with knowledge from urban and/or
traditional communities around environmental and social issues; that
discuss about the professor's education and practice, transdisciplinarity,
pedagogical autonomy and the colonization of subjectivities; that deals
with method, experimentation and Freirian pedagogies.

*THE PERIOD AND VENUE*

The event will take place during November 03, 04 and 05, 2021 (from
Wednesday to Friday). Due to sanitary conditions, this edition will be held
entirely in virtual format.

*ABOUT SUBMISSION*

The submission of papers is open until September 27, 2021. Papers are
expected in expanded abstract format (1000 to 1500 words), in Portuguese
*or* Spanish. Papers that discuss the possibility of critically reviewing
certain scripts and models that govern the practices of project and the
actions of Design will be welcome.
