With apologies for cross-posting:
Dear colleagues,
This is a polite and gentle reminder that the first day of the online
symposia, ‘Resonating Across Oceanic Currents: A Maritime History of
Popular Music in and from Japan, 1920s-1960s’, will take place this *Saturday,
2 October 2021 *(please kindly see below for more information).
The symposia originate from the research project ‘Resonating Across Oceanic
Currents’ (RAOC: https://raocmus.com), which I co-organise with Dr. Amane
Kasai (Waseda University), funded by the EU MSCA and Waseda University. The
two-day symposia will explore the international circulations of musicians,
musical instruments, and popular songs across the sea and at the global
port cities to examine the history of popular music exchange between Japan
and multiple international locations during the ‘transwar’ period.
The symposia are open to everyone who has registered in advance. We hope
that you will join us!
Yours sincerely,
Yuiko
