British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships
The Department of Music at the University of York invites expressions of interest from prospective applicants to the British Academy’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme. The British Academy’s deadline for submission of applications is 14 October 2021, and the earliest start date for award-holders is 1 September 2022. To be eligible for these three-year fellowships, candidates must have completed their PhD viva successfully since 1 November 2018 or be scheduled to have done so by 1 April 2022. They must be a UK or EEA national, or have completed their doctorate at a UK university.

Applicants who would like to be hosted by Music at the University of York must submit a five-page proposal, comprising:
· A summary of your proposed project, including research questions, scholarly context, methodology, and planned outputs [2 pages]
· A short CV, with i) relevant academic and musical experience, and ii) details of existing and forthcoming publications, including any practice research outputs [1–2 pages]
· Details of your eligibility to apply for the Fellowship (see guidance) and agreement from a member of departmental staff to act as your mentor, with an explanation of how the Department and the University of York can provide the right support and infrastructure for your project [up to 1 page]
You are advised in the first instance to contact the Head of Music, Dr Áine Sheil <[log in to unmask]>, and your proposed mentor in Music. Please email your expression of interest plus your five-page proposal to Dr Sheil via email (with the subject line ‘BA Postdoctoral Fellowship Application’) by 14 September 2021.
Proposals will be considered by our Departmental Research Committee, and a selection made for departmental and faculty support to complete the Outline Application to the British Academy by the deadline of 14 October 2021.
