Folks, there is a huge misunderstanding here.
When testing, of course we use real people. There is no other way. And they
have to be people who represent the desired users of whatever we are
designing.
Personas, as I thought I had explained, are only used in the ideation
Phase. And we sometimes do use real people, but when we do that, we do not
confuse them with personas: we call the collaborators. Hence, do-design.
So do not confuse these two different uses: during ideation and during
testing
If you believe in the double diamond approach (which I now say is useful,
but not a good description of how design is, or should be, done), personas
are used in the first diamond and real people in the second diamond.
