Dave, I enjoyed those examples!
Could you tell us which learning objective(s) the assignment would help the students meet? I've found that it's really challenging to think of ideas for new assignments, but if I do the heavy lifting of putting into words what learning outcomes I'm looking for, usually the assignment idea plops out easily as well. (I know I'm saying something kind of obvious and basic here.)

Hi folks,
For a few years I've wanted to set my world English students some kind of assignment
using Google Streetview. I already show them a few Streetview links to showcase
diverse linguistic landscapes, but it's just a kind of gimmicky intro thing in the
first intro lecture:

In each case I ask them to guess where it is, then zoom out to reveal, and then wrap
up with some no doubt deeply erudite and endlessly memorable remark about how
widespread English is in the world.
But I don't make much use of it otherwise pedagogically, and I'm not sure how you'd
make it more substantive than just 'go and take some screenshots'. I mean that would
be interesting for sure, but it wouldn't exactly scream Bloom's Taxonomy. They
already do mini-essays based on the lectures so it would be fairly easy to weave in;
just need to think how to do it.
Has anyone done any similar assignments with Streetview? Any tips?
Thanks!
Dave
