It works rather well for big amazing rooms, like the Peterhof (thanks, I was blown away by the ballroom!) - but not really if you're moving round a space where the purpose is looking at the objects themselves - I've yet to come across this kind of virtual tour where you can look at single objects properly. Unless anyone has seen something that solves this?
I prefer something like this (all five hours and 19 minutes of it!) - a one take film of walk through the Hermitage Museum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49YeFsx1rIw&t=6921s, previously recommended on this list when it was being sceptical about virtual tours a while back. Or if you have access to VR, Andy Baker's Gallery Ghost works simply but really well, in terms of projecting yourself around a space and then looking properly at the pictures. This allows you to emphasise collections, rather than the museum space itself.
