Dear colleagues,
At the initiative of the French Society for Music Analyse (SFAM), the
/Musurgia/ journal is organising an article competition with two
financial awards.
After a pre-selection by a jury composed of the editors in chief, the
editorial board and the SFAM President, two awards will be given:
- The Jean-Jacques Nattiez Award, amounting to 1000 EUR, will be given
under the responsibility of the latter to an article written in French
language;
- The SFAM Award, amounting to 1000 EUR, will be given under the
responsibility of a committee of SFAM members to an article that
demonstrates a particularly innovative methodology. This article may be
written in French or English.
The award-winning articles will be published in the /Musurgia/ journal
with the mention of the award received. The winners will receive their
financial reward after the actual publication of their article.
Non-winning articles will be considered for publication in /Musurgia/,
according to the usual procedure.
Articles, in accordance with /Musurgia/'s submission guidelines (see
inside back cover or http://musurgia.free.fr/fr/instructions.html) may
relate to all the subject areas covered by the journal, in particular
but not limited to:
- Music analysis from various periods and cultures;
- Analytical theories;
- Analytical methods;
- History and epistemology of music analysis and theory;
- Musical semiotics;
- Computer-aided music analysis;

The competition is open to the entire network of analysts and theorists
from all institutional and academic backgrounds. Young researchers and

([log in to unmask]) no later than 15 October 2020, with the
words "2020 competition" in the subject line of the e-mail. The results
will be announced on 15 December 2020.
Participation in this competition is conditioned to the 2020 membership
to the French Society for Music Analysis of all the authors of an
article. In order for their application to be considered, the authors
must have paid their 2020 membership fee by 15 October 2020 at the
latest (see http://www.sfam.org/nouveau/Adhesion.php).
