I read the paper and I did not find any mention to Gregory Bateson who
proposed the cybernetic explanation of behavior in the sixties.
An extract from the work of Quirin and coll. 2020: “Negative feedback
control, then, is involved whenever one seeks to change a current
state to a desired state. In negative feedback, the system attempts to
reduce the discrepancy between these states, and detection of that
discrepancy constitutes error.”
Compare with this extract from the work of Bateson (Bateson, G.
(1967). Cybernetic explanation. American Behavioral Scientist, 10(8),
29-29.): “The cybernetic method of negative explanation raises the
question: is there a difference between “being right” and “not being
wrong”? Shou!d we say of the rat in a maze that he has “learned the
right path” or should we say only that he has learned “to avoid the
wrong paths”?”

Again a case of “rediscovery” and “lack of history”….who said that
researchers have to study more and write less?
