Greetings Ken,
Thank you for your response to my question and for the suggestion to look into Frans de Waal’s work on non-human intelligence, ethics, and emotions. A few clicks later and I found this video of a reunion between Dr. Jan Van Hooff, was a Dutch biologist, and his friend, Mama, an 58-year old and very sick chimpanzee.

I wouldn't say that this video is evidence that the division between nature and culture is blurred. But it does appear to show nature and culture can be connected on an emotional level.
Best,
Luke
