Yes indeed, dear Stephen! These volcanoes, together with their
inhabitants, the mountain gorillas, my close neighbors, are really
inspiring by all means! For example, just waking up, every morning, and
having direct in front of my eyes the majestuous volcano MUHABUURA and
its landscape, what a daily awakening to our earth and its
marvelous content!! This will certainly keep me going forward, serein, til
the end soon!
Thank you for your kind wishes, the same to you!
Talking about Higher Education, like in any other domain, change is
inevitable...Fifty-sixty years ago, makers were squeezed on the
Academia bench, along with Gentlemen
Bourgeois-gentilhommes philosophizing...
On this current change occurring in higher education worldwide, that you
report so well, the question that was triggered in my mind by Ken's post
about Minerva was as follows:
Young Africans, particularly young Rwandans apparently, are strongly
attracted by all those online offers, of anything, such as Minerva's -
Jack Ma's Foundation and Ali-Baba are very popular here!! And my most
earnest wish, before I pass soon, is to see few among these young Rwandans
make their living on practical (i.e. design) knowledge: both knowledge now
so easily accessible from all over the world, but also knowledge, thus far
despised and neglected that could be drawn from this particular terroir of
ours, around the African Great Lakes.
The question in my mind: Would Minerva, or any other offer of the same
kind, contribute somehow to acquire also practical, makers' knowledge? Or,
for those young Africans, this doesn't risk to be another...sort of Ponzi
scheme???
I wish this won't be the case!
Once more, best wishes to you!
François

WELCOME ALL!
