If you only want to run work you only need the FAHClient package, which has no dependency problems on EL7, it will immediately start looking for work to run. I've only ever run FAHControl on Linux Mint, so can't help there.
Here's a minimal /etc/fahclient/config.xml which will get things running at full power on most CPU only systems:
<config>
<command-allow-no-pass v='127.0.0.1'/>
<gpu v='false'/>
<power v='full'/>
<slot id='0' type='CPU'/>
</config>

Hi,
If people are installing the clients on Centos7 or similar systems it
would be useful if they share their install method, the default install
of the FAHControl package doesn't work because of a very long running
dependency issue and requires messing with the system python potentially
disrupting yum operations.
I want to help but don't want to break systems in the process.
Cheers,
John
