Do you want to optimise the online discovery of your digital collections? To tactically and practically evaluate their usage and impact?
Jisc is hosting a pair of one-day workshops in early May 2020 – ‘Maximising the use of digital collections in learning and research’ and ‘Measuring usage and impact with digital collections.’ Both will be held at the Jisc offices in central London.
Maximising the use of digital collections in learning and research- 12 May
Need help choosing channels to promote your digital collections? Want to develop strategies for promoting your collections and their content? This workshop will equip you and your organisation with skills that maximise the reach of those collections online. You will delve into how search engines such as Google index and present your collections, including understanding relevant SEO terminology, and be introduced to Schema.org as a mechanism to boost online discovery and use.
Measuring usage and impact with digital collections- 19 May
How do you make your way through the minefield of terminology to more effectively use services such as Google Analytics to measure usage of your digital collections? How can you meaningfully demonstrate the impact of those collections? During this workshop we’ll demystify Google Analytics jargon, working with you on a range of exercises to help you decide what analytics function works best in any given scenario that you can apply to your collection(s).
We’ll be introducing the Balanced Value Impact Model (BVI Model)- a model specifically created for use in GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives and museums). You’ll learn the key underpinning of the BVI Model, initial practical steps to take, and how to apply them to impact activities within your organisation.
Both workshops offer a mix of immersive exercises, case studies, talks and follow-on materials to transform theory into practical outcomes that you can apply to your organisation.
