Hi everyone,
This discussion applies to any universities that are accredited by the Geological Society of London, so apologies if this does not apply to you.
Considering the current COVID-19 situation how are different universities are approaching summer mapping student project field work (e.g. the ~28 day independent mapping projects that forms part of the final year project dissertation)?
Here at the University of Portsmouth we have cancelled all international project field work, but have not yet made a decision to whether UK-based projects will go ahead or not. In the event all fieldwork is cancelled we are going to either have literature or data-based projects.
Recent discussions on this forum are going to be useful for designing any non-fieldwork projects.
As all universities are in the same boat on this I was wondering what other approaches are? Have you cancelled summer fieldwork yet or are you also waiting to make a decision? It would be great to get some ideas and also have a bit of consistency across the board.
Thanks very much!
Catherine
