I hope this note finds everyone doing as best they can under the circumstances. The occurrence of our field camp this summer is in jeopardy (as I'm sure are others). For several students who are able to postpone attendance until 2021, this is not a problem. My question concerns those students who have no other option - they need field camp to graduate in 2020.
If social distancing measures remain in place for this summer, this could made traditional field camp difficult. Has anyone given thought to how to carry out field camp "remotely" for students who need it, but cannot be in the field together due to social distancing measures remaining in place? I realize this sounds ridiculous. We (myself included) believe field camp is largely a field-based endeavor, however I am being asked by my department head to prepare for a worst case scenario, just in case.
Thanks for your feedback!
Greg
