Dear Zooarchers,
The results are in, and thank you for taking part. The majority of the @200 people who responded - 73% - would like ZOOARCH to include attachments (With a strong majority 78% of those suggesting that pdfs should also be accepted). Of these one fifth (22%) wanted under 2MB, a third (29%) under 5MB with 36% happy with up to 10MB.
As a result we intend to start a trial period of 3 months with attachments of up to 5MB when we will ask for feedback on your experiences. Although we need to go with the will of the majority, we are certainly also listening to the minority, and we will carrying on paying attention to potential problems arising from the inclusion of attachments. This is why we regard this as a trial period, at the end of which we will reassess the situation.
This action also seems highly appropriate given the challenges that we are now facing with working remotely.
We will now inform JISCMAIL of our decision and we will let you know as soon as the change has been implemented. Until then, please do keep abiding to the no-attachment rule.
Best wishes in these difficult times, and welcome to all our new members (and thanks to SAA zooarchaeology for promoting our community).
Jacqui and Umberto
