Dear Andre
I teach at a fairly small undergraduate institution in Canada. We have an internal research fund that’s quite competitive and meant as seed funding for projects that would, eventually, apply for federal funds. There are a few internal funds for conference presentation (travel and such) and a bit of money to support student researchers. Each faculty has a tiny pot for professional development and presentation as well. And each faculty member has about 1k a year for professional development.
It’s way too little money, to be honest. But the thought is, I guess, better something than nothing.
