The Francophone Music Computing Conference (Journées d'Informatique Musicale) is an annual meeting of researchers, developers, as well as different actors of the music community who use computers and computing systems as a tool for dissemination, creation, performance or pedagogy.
The JIM are organised under the auspices of the AFIM (Association francophone d’informatique musicale) and supported by the DGCA (Direction générale de la création artistique) of the French Ministry of Culture.
The JIM 2020 are organised in Strasbourg by the GREAM Lab (Experimental Research Group on Music in Act) from the University of Strasbourg, with the support of the IRMA (Institut de recherche mathématique avancée - UMR 7501), the Strasbourg Conservatory and the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR).
The 2020 edition of the JIM would like to focus on the topic of "Musical act (compositional, performative, analytical) and computing environments". On the basis of the GREAM's specific concept of "musical act", participants are invited to question this latter within the context of the various computing environments the musical act inevitably has to be faced with and into which it is also likely to be embedded. Particular attention will be given to the compositional, performative and analytical dimensions of the musical act.
In addition to this special theme, the usual JIM topics are reconducted under the following broad axes:
- Computer systems
- Computer-assisted creation
- Interpretation, performing arts and technology
- Musical notation
- Historical aspects and preservation
- Computational musicology
