Help Musicians is an independent charity with a strong reputation and a uniquely rich history.
For nearly 100 years, we have been supporting and empowering musicians through all stages of their lives and careers. 2021 marks the charity’s first centenary, and to mark the occasion, we will publicly celebrate our history and achievements.
An initial scoping project has uncovered a wealth of historically significant material. Help Musicians is seeking to appoint a consultant researcher to review the archive and to create content around these themes to bring these fascinating stories to life. The researcher should also present ideas for presenting the archival material to its full potential during the centenary year, consulting the records of other organisations where appropriate. We hope that the researcher will be able to advise us on the potential of the material in the charity’s possession and whether there is scope to hold a limited exhibition of ephemera that may be of interest to the general public. It is likely that some of this material will need to be digitised in order to share it publicly. An existing interest in music and social history would be highly beneficial, but this is not essential to the role.
