The International Centre for Music Studies (ICMuS) at Newcastle University wishes to appoint a 1.0 FTE Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Composition to contribute to the teaching and supervision of composition at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We understand composition in the widest sense and welcome applications from across the range of compositional practices (including score-based, technologically-mediated, improvised and sound art).
Applicants will hold a PhD in composition or a relevant field or will have equivalent professional experience in the field. The successful applicant will have a portfolio of internationally-recognized outputs and will be able to contribute significantly to Newcastle's research culture and future REF submissions. They must also be able to demonstrate a track record of high quality teaching, as well as experience of having undertaken administrative duties in an HE environment, or the potential to do so. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and will be able to communicate effectively and engagingly to students, staff and external audiences. They must be collegiate in approach, and will be able to work within a diverse and plural teaching and research environment.
