Hi Helen
We phone all paracetamol results of 10 mg/L and above.
We have an SBAR process for ensuring critical results, those that require immediate action/management of the patient and must be given specifically to a doctor. For paracetamol these are......
>100 mg/L at 4 hours
>25 mg/L at 12 hours
>25 mg/L if no time of ingestion/time unclear
Kind regards

Subject: Phoning Paracetamol Results
Dear All
Please could anyone let me know at what level you phone out paracetamol results? RCPath guidelines appear to suggest phoning all detectable levels within 2 hours, but also say "Agree specific thresholds locally with acute admissions/A&E especially for paediatric samples".
Has anyone agreed specific thresholds or are you phoning all detectable levels? We're hoping to gain an insight into what other labs are doing. I'm happy to collate any responses and share with everyone.
Many thanks
Helen
