Dear Mailbase,
Happy New Year to you all.
One of our endocrinologists wishes to calculate the alpha-subunit (α-GSU) to TSH molar ratio as per European Thyroid Association Guidelines for ?TSHoma.
The guideline states: “A high α-GSU/TSH molar ratio {[α-GSU (μg/l)/TSH (mU/l)] x 10} is present in about 80% of TSHomas.”
Unfortunately the alpha-subunit result we have is in IU/L and our referral laboratory has not been able to provide the conversion. I’ve done a fair bit of googling and cannot find a reliable source for a conversion.
Does anyone know what the conversion factor would be or an equivalent ratio cut-off that can be calculated with the units we have?
Many thanks,
Rebecca
