Dear all,
We would like to draw your attention to a new permanent Band 7 Clinical Scientist post available in the Clinical Chemistry Department at Sheffield Children's Hospital - please see job reference “425-A-19-33053 - Clinical Scientist” on the NHS Jobs website.
Sheffield Children’s Clinical Chemistry department consists of 3 laboratory sections; general paediatric biochemistry, specialist metabolic biochemistry and the regional newborn screening service. It serves the hospital and city of Sheffield for general paediatric biochemistry, and is a provider of a large range of specialist and super-specialist metabolic testing regionally, nationally and internationally, - with a particular reputation for organic acids, peroxisomal disorders, fatty acid oxidation disorders and trimethylaminuria. The department also runs the UK branches of the ERNDIM Qualitative organic acid and Diagnostic Proficiency testing EQA schemes. The newborn screening section has been at the forefront of driving forward testing for new disorders and is one of the labs chosen to participate in the upcoming pilot project for SCID screening. The post is ideal for anybody interested in a role that requires significant technical know-how and interpretational input. In the first instance the post is intended to help cover a maternity leave and other staff changes but will evolve with the needs of the service.
