The Music Department at Royal Holloway, University of London, is inviting outline proposals from postdoctoral scholars interested in applying for a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship. For details of the British Academy scheme, including eligibility, see: https://www.thebritishacademy.ac.uk/funding/british-academy-postdoctoral-fellowships
Our department offers a dynamic, inclusive and stimulating environment for research. Staff research covers a broad chronology (from early medieval to contemporary) and geography (spanning Europe, Asia and the Americas). Much of our work crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries, integrating perspectives from the fields of ethnomusicology, historical musicology, theory & analysis, composition, and performance studies, understood in the broadest terms. Areas of particular strength include modernism and music; music and material cultures; global perspectives on performance; screen music, media and technology. See Music staff profiles at: https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/research-and-teaching/departments-and-schools/music/about-us/academic-staff/
We also encourage interdisciplinary projects that draw on expertise of other Royal Holloway departments such as Drama and Media Arts.
We have an internal selection process for prospective candidates. If you are interested, please send to Stephen Rose ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) by Monday 26th August an outline proposal consisting of:
- a two-page summary of the planned project, using the British Academy's headings of Proposed Programme, Planned Research Outputs, Plan of Action, and Plans for Publication;
- a two-page CV;
- details of a Royal Holloway staff member who might mentor your project, and whether you have already discussed it with them.
Candidates who successfully proceed through the internal selection process will then be invited to submit a full British Academy application supported by Royal Holloway, for which the closing date is 16 October 2019.
