RSD8 - Systems Change for Governance
Join us for RSD8, the 8th annual Relating Systems Thinking and Design symposium http://rsd8.org This year’s 3-day event will take place in Chicago at Illinois Institute of Technology - Institute of Design. This year’s theme is Systems Change for Governance. The full program has been selected but not yet announced (submission of paper abstracts is now closed).
Registration is now open at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rsd8-relating-systems-thinking-and-design-symposium-tickets-62958335075 Student tickets and full ticket with SDA membership are offered at the usual very low price.
Become a member of SDA first for only $25 (first year rate): https://systemic-design.net/become-a-member/
And as an SDA member get a $50 discount on the full conference ($150)
Call for Posters and Prototypes – Submit posters through June 28
We invite submissions from researchers and practitioners in systemic design, and who work at the intersection of systems thinking and design, for an exhibition at RSD8. This exhibition aims to showcase new tools, processes and methods for achieving systemic change through activating, cultivating and galvanizing networks. Submissions could be either in the format of posters or prototypes.
Poster formats
We invite poster submissions which explore innovative new ways to visualize complexity, document and analyze systemic design processes, and showcase methods to activate networks. Posters could include but are not limited to:
* Synthesis maps and Gigamaps
* Data and process visualization of complex systems
* Visual representation of systemic complexity
* Visual tools for strategic choice-making for systems-level transformation
In order to participate in the exhibition with a poster:
* Submit a short abstract of maximum 350 words (excluding title and keywords)
* Upload a high resolution image or images (PDF preferred) of the work
* Provide a website link for interactive visualizations
Final posters provided to the conference will be printed by the author. Printing support is not provided by ID onsite, so authors should bring their own prints to hang in the exhibition or print at a local print shop in advance of the gallery show.
The work should be submitted via email to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by June 28, 2019.
Prototypes
We invite prototype submissions that materialize design interventions which address systemic challenges or opportunities, test new systemic design methods and engage stakeholders in co-production. In order to participate in the exhibition with a prototype:
* Submit a short abstract of maximum 500 words (excluding title and keywords)
* Upload 3-5 high resolution images illustrating the prototype
* Provide a website link in case of interactive or digital prototypes
*
Prototypes could include but are not limited to:
* Physical, digital and/or interactive prototypes
* Experiential scenarios and/or artifacts
* Toolkits for systemic design processes.
*
Participants are responsible for transporting, assembling and disassembling their prototypes. Please indicate if there are any specific requirements for presenting prototypes such as tables, platforms and power outlets.
The work should be submitted via email to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by June 28, 2019.
