Roger and all,
Might we discuss in what ways, for what purposes, the Variorum is still useful?
I am at the point in life where I am most interested in de-accessioning. When I can find the time and patience for it, I will make a list of books that I think still have value, and I will email to anyone who is interested. I am especially interested in helping younger scholars to gain access to books NOT published within the last 20 years -- and I also have a fair number of books of more recent vintage.
I have held onto most of the issues of the Spenser Newsletter that came my way over the years -- the earliest are from 1986, running to 2001, at which point the format changed to Spenser Review. First come, first served, if you are willing to take the whole lot!
I am, of course, still buying books, and not eager to clear my shelves entirely. Not much involved in Early Modern Studies, although I bought Philipp Blom's "Nature's Mutiny" (since it deals topically with the long-lasting impacts of climate change in the 'little Ice Age'). I just ordered Martin Hagglund's "This Life," which I think will speak to me very directly.
Best wishes,
Jon Quitslund

Looking for
something else, I just found not one but two 11-volume
Variorum Spensers on sale at Abebooks: one at USD 488 and
one at USD 515. In case anyone’s interested . . .https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?an=Charles%20Morgan&cm_sp=sort-_-SRP-_-Results&sortby=1
